What Raging Salads collects through this website, why, who sees it and how long we keep it. The short version: we only ask for what we need to feed you, our visit counts stay on our own server, and we delete what we no longer need.
Who we are
This website, ragingsalads.com, is run by Raging Salads, Amman, Jordan. We run a kitchen in Shmeisani, Amman (Abdulhamid Shomani Street, Shnaneh Complex, Ground floor), and we decide how the details you give us here are used. Questions about your details go to info@ragingsalads.com.
What we collect, and why
When you order online
Your name and mobile number, and your email address if you add it. For a delivery, also your area, street, building, floor, apartment and directions, plus the spot you pin on the checkout map (by moving the map or sharing your phone's location) and how far it is from our kitchen. Your notes for the kitchen (which may mention allergies), whether you want cutlery, and the change you need for cash. We keep what you ordered, what it cost, and a short history of the order (when it was confirmed, ready and handed over), including any notes our staff add.
We use these to make your order, confirm it with you by phone or WhatsApp, and get it to you. If your notes mention an allergy, the order is marked so the kitchen can't miss it. You pay in cash when you collect or receive your food; we never ask for card details.
We also check your mobile number against earlier orders from the same number: to call or message you before a first delivery, to stop the same order going through twice by mistake, and to limit how many orders one number can place at a time and in a day. Our staff can see how many earlier orders came from your number.
When you join The Field Report
Your email address, plus when and where you signed up and the sign-up wording shown next to the box you used (or, if you asked one of our team to add you, a note saying so). We use it only to send you our newsletter. We send it ourselves, or through an email service that gets your address for that and nothing else.
When you ask for a team tasting
Your company, your name, your work email, your phone number if you add it, the approximate headcount, your notes, and the estimate you built on the page (headcount, days per week, plan and weekly price). We use them to arrange your tasting and send you a quote, and our team keeps notes on the conversation alongside your request.
When you apply to franchise
You email us your application. We use what you send (your name, contact details, experience and plans) only to review it and to talk to you about it, and it stays within our team. Ask us any time to delete it.
To stop abuse
If a phone number is used for prank or abusive orders, we may block it from ordering online, for a set time or until we lift the block.
Cookies and visit counting
To see how the site is used, it tells our own server when a page opens, when something goes into the bag, when someone goes to checkout and when an order is placed: which page or dish, the website or link that brought the visitor here, whether it's a phone, tablet or computer, and the language the site is shown in. We use the totals to improve the menu and the site; our team sees them only as numbers in the kitchen dashboard.
If you accept the cookie: we keep one cookie on your device, rs_vid. It holds a random code and nothing about you, and it lets us tell a returning visitor from a new one. It lasts 180 days and only this website reads it.
If you say no, or don't choose: there is no cookie. We still count the visit, but anonymously: our server turns your IP address and browser type into a code with a key that changes every day and is then deleted. That lets us count a day's visitors without recognising you on another day or working back to your address, and your IP address and browser are not stored with the counts. If you said no, your browser's storage remembers it for 180 days so we don't ask again.
Nothing is counted from our staff's devices or from obvious bots, and none of it goes to Google, Facebook or any other company. The counts are deleted after 13 months.
What we don't do
- No advertising trackers and no analytics from other companies. The only cookies here are the visit cookie described above, if you accept it, and our staff's sign-in to the kitchen dashboard.
- We don't sell your details or share them with advertisers.
What stays in your browser
To make the site work, it keeps a few things in your browser's own storage on your device. These are not cookies, and they stay on your device; we only get what you send us when you check out or check on an order:
- your bag, until you place your order or empty it;
- your name, phone, email and address, only if you tick “Remember my details on this device” (never your map pin);
- your latest order's number, counter and status, with its private tracking code, for 12 hours, so you can check on it (it's deleted the next time you open our homepage after that);
- a copy of the menu and of the homepage text, for up to a day, so the page loads quickly;
- whether you paused the site's motion, and whether you chose dark or light mode or English or Arabic;
- your answer to the cookie question, if you said no (for 180 days); and
- where you had scrolled to on the homepage, and whether you closed the announcement bar, for that browser tab only.
You can clear them at any time in your browser's settings. (When one of our staff opens a preview link, the site also keeps its code for that browser tab and sends it with each request, so their test orders are marked as tests. A device signed in to our kitchen dashboard is marked too, so its visits aren't counted.)
Who can see your details
Our team, through a password-protected kitchen dashboard. Counter staff see the orders they prepare; only managers see tasting requests and newsletter sign-ups. Your details are stored on the server that runs this website, which we rent from a hosting company and which may be located outside Jordan.
For a delivery, the rider bringing your food gets your name, phone number, address and directions, and your map pin if you shared one. We send these to the rider by WhatsApp, and we may call or WhatsApp you about your order; those messages go through WhatsApp (run by Meta) under its own privacy terms. To find a map pin, our team and the rider open it in Google Maps, which then gets that location.
The checkout map comes from Navvo (navvo.io), a mapping service. Our server fetches the map for you and, when you pin a spot, asks Navvo for the street there and the driving distance from our kitchen. Navvo gets only the pin's coordinates: never your name, phone number or address, and not your IP address, because the requests come from our server.
Every file on this website, including its code, fonts and the checkout map, comes from our own server. We don't load anything from other companies' networks, so no one else sees your visit. Links to Google Maps (for directions) and to WhatsApp open those services, which then handle your visit under their own terms.
How long we keep it
These are our standard periods. The ones for orders and tasting requests are settings we can change; if we change them, we'll update this page.
- Orders: 365 days after an order, we remove your name, phone, email, address, map pin (and its distance from our kitchen) and notes from it, along with our staff's notes on it. We keep what was ordered, the totals, the dates and the delivery area for our records.
- Tasting requests: if we don't end up working together, we delete the request 365 days after we close it; anything that looks like spam goes after 30 days. Requests that turn into a regular service are kept while we work together.
- Franchise applications: kept while we review and discuss them; ask us any time to delete yours.
- The Field Report: your address is kept while you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, it is deleted 30 days later.
- Backups: the server is backed up every night and before every upgrade. Backups are deleted after about six months, including the copies we keep away from the server for safety, so a deleted detail can stay in an older backup until then.
- Server logs: our web server logs each request with its IP address, the time and the address asked for; for the website's pages and files it also logs your browser and the page you came from. These logs are kept for about two weeks.
- Visit counts: 13 months. The daily key behind the anonymous counts is deleted as soon as its day is over.
- Kitchen dashboard (our staff): for security we record sign-ins, failed sign-in attempts and changes made in the dashboard, with the time and IP address (and, for a signed-in device, the browser and device name). Signed-in sessions are deleted when they end; the dashboard's record of sign-ins and changes is deleted after 365 days, and the server's own log after 30 days. Each staff account keeps the time and IP address of its last sign-in.
Your choices
To get a copy of the details we hold about you, or to have them deleted, email info@ragingsalads.com from the address you used, or tell us the phone number you ordered with. If something we hold is wrong, email us the correction and we'll update it. To stop The Field Report, email the same address and we'll take you off the list.
For a tasting request, you can also write to teams@ragingsalads.com.
Changes
If we change how we handle your details, we'll update this page and the date on it.
